Valley Pre-School brought so much to our family…here are a few examples of the depth and breadth….Valley Pre-School did more than teach our five children about the weather, the days of the week, the seasons, their letters, colors and numbers… they taught them about good deeds, treating each other fairly, being gentle, how to listen to others, how to praise each other and cheer each other on. By being a cooperative school, I was participatory in their education. As a new parent of a preschooler, I learned much from these faculty and other parents. Parent helping exposed me to what was happening in their day which is often hard for the 3 and 4 year old to recount which helped me reinforce the learning at home. I also got to see their friends and how they interacted with them in school, helping me arrange appropriate play dates that built strong friendships over the years. Since all the parents were participatory minded, these same parents have maintained an involved perspective in their children’s education over the years. These parents have truly become lifetime friends.
The faculty is like no other preschool I know. They are creative and encouraging, fostering independence and gaining new perspectives on each child throughout the year. They were there for ideas on working with my children when I faced challenges. They were there to help me make educational decisions along the way based on each child’s needs. This sounds like any other school, but it is what these faculty give to each lesson, day, unit, to each student, to each family that is hard to measure…hard to quantify. I do know that it has and continues to be awesome for all of my kids. When they see their faculty in town, they stop and ask how things are. They have been such a part of our children growing up, such a strong foundation from which they have grown, it is hard to imagine it any other way. We have been very happy for Valley Pre-School being part of our lives.

We love parent helping at Valley Pre-School. Parent involvement gives us the opportunity to watch our daughter learn, interact with other children and see her experience new things right in front of our eyes.
We’ve watched our daughter bloom with her imagination and creativity at home based on the direct experiences she’s had at Valley Pre-School. Just this past week, she sequenced the checker pieces on the checkerboard, sounded out all the “P” words she knew and talked about what was needed to grow her garden – sun, water and love.

We were so excited when our daughter started at Valley Pre-School but we could never have imagined how amazing the experience would be for her and our entire family. The families at Valley Pre-School are a true community and we have all made many friendships that I am certain will be long lasting.
I will never forget the look of awe on Piper’s face as she saw a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis, how proud she was to put our family’s pieces of ice on the beautiful VPS ice sculpture, or the looks of sheer joy she gets when she knows it’s time for school. Every school day is filled with hands on experiences and thoughtful lessons that feel more shared than taught. She has developed what we know will be a lifelong love of learning and for this we are so thankful to Valley Pre- School!
